Application
The possible areas of application for the air purifiers are very diverse, the mode of action is always the same:
The positive ions have a strong activity, can oxidise and decompose the pollution factors such as methyl mercaptan, ammonia and hydrogen sulphide in a very short time, open the chemical bonds of the volatile gases of the organic substances and finally produce carbon dioxide and water through a series of reactions. Positive ions can also destroy the living environment of bacteria in the air, inactivate bacteria and spores, lose the ability to reproduce and thus reduce the concentration of bacteria in the room. Negative ions can absorb suspended particles larger than a multiple of their own weight, settle by their own gravity and remove the suspended colloids (aerosols) in the air to achieve the purpose of air purification.
We have listed some examples of areas of application here to give you a better overview.
Gardening / Vegetable Growing / Fruit Growing
Due to residues in the planting soil, mould spores are naturally present everywhere. Mould then also easily forms on the growing medium on which the vegetables or fruit grow. This mould formation is prevented by the positive and negative ions.If plants (e.g. hemp) cause an odour nuisance, this odour is greatly reduced (depending on the intensity of the plasma ion treatment)!
If there are undesirable bacteria in the irrigation water due to wells or rainwater, we recommend cleaning the water with plasma ions. You can see examples of this in the following video!
- Fruit / vegetables stay fresh longer
- Improved growth
- Less crop failure
- Higher yields
- Less odour
Grocery store
The smell of meat or fish in the supermarket does not go down well with all customers - a roast smell probably does not attract people with a vegan dietary orientation. People who are sensitive to smells also suffer from odours, fumes or air pollution, which most people are not aware of. A smell of clean air (but not excessive use of chlorine or the like) always promotes confidence in the cleanliness of the shop. In addition, bacteria or micro-organisms that accelerate the spoilage of meat, fish, fruit and vegetables are killed. This significantly extends the shelf life of the food. See the video comparing fruit with and without plasma ions.
- Fruit and vegetables stay fresh longer
- Even hard-to-reach surfaces are disinfected by the ions in the air
- Odours are greatly reduced
- The shelf life of food is extended
- Reduction of waste = increase of yield
- More satisfied customers
Livestock farms (poultry, fish, breeding and fattening farms).
To relieve the respiratory tract of the animals and thus actively contribute to their health, the air in the rooms and stables can be cleaned. This prevents the transmission of bacteria, mould and, more importantly, pathogens. The effectiveness of plasma ions against swine flu (H1N1) and African swine fever (ASFV) has been proven, as well as against corona viruses (HCoV / GX-P2V) or enterovirus (EV71). This can reduce the use of antibiotics and other medicines.
Plasma air actively decomposes the secretions of the sebaceous glands and apocrine sweat glands of domestic animals. So does the odour produced by microbial decomposition and the excretion of urine and odours. In this way, our devices actively contribute to improving indoor air quality and reduce odour nuisance to neighbours.
In fish farming, harmful bacteria are killed by introducing ionised air into the water (coliform bacteria, tested by TÜV Süd).

- Strong reduction of odours
- Air purification of infectious viruses
- Disinfection of bacteria and mould
- Active improvement of air quality and strong reduction of pathogens in the air
- Killing of bacteria in water
- Reduction of costs for medication
- Fewer sick animals and improved animal welfare
- Higher yields due to less downtime and health costs
- Less odour nuisance to neighbours
Sports facilities / function rooms / open-plan offices
Where many people come together and perhaps sweat in the process, a reduction in odours can be pleasant for everyone! In addition, there is the increased risk of infection with viruses through sporting activity. We all had to learn in the Covid pandemic that an unwanted infection during the incubation period can lead to the closure of public spaces or to access restrictions. Even today, no one wants to become infected (be it with harmless viruses) or spread viruses unintentionally as a source of infection. This is where BPi air purifiers can help reliably and safely.
- Disinfection of changing areas
- Disinfection of the air in rooms and halls
- Strong reduction of viruses and bacteria
- Reduction of odours
- Increase in the well-being of visitors and employees
- Reduction of sick leave of employees
- Better concentration due to higher oxygen content in the air
Cleaning the air in waiting areas and the surfaces of treatment rooms
At doctors' surgeries and in public waiting areas, viruses and bacteria can be inadvertently spread by sick people. The smallest aerosols from coughing or sneezing can fly far and contaminate surfaces, so that constant disinfection of the surfaces would be necessary. Since this is hardly feasible with the consistency and thoroughness that would be necessary, air purification with plasma ions can help here.
- Continuous disinfection of surfaces
- Less odour nuisance in waiting areas
- Extremely reduced risk of infection in waiting areas
- Less sick time for staff
Evaporating floors, walls and furniture
After a renovation, there are usually still strongly increased concentrations of solvents (TVOC) and other gases such as benzene (C6H6) or formaldehyde (HCHO) for a long time, as these substances are contained in varnishes, plastics or glues. Even if the exposure of materials to such substances has been reduced in recent times, an elevated concentration can still be measured for a long time directly after a renovation. People with sensitive respiratory tracts are irritated by this, or the risk of infection is increased. The active decomposition of the gases by the plasma ions helps to minimise odour nuisance or other damage to the occupants. Many people react to these substances with headaches or discomfort. If you are not sure what is polluting your air, we have measuring instruments to find the causes.
- Decomposition of solvents (TVOC) in the air
- Reduction of benzene (C6H6) and formaldehyde (HCHO)
- No irritation of the respiratory tract
- Reduction of headaches or malaise
Disinfection after water damage
After water damage, floors and surfaces must be dried not only superficially. In most cases, technical drying of the screed is necessary, which results in strong air movement and the bacteria and mould spores activated by moisture can be carried into the air more quickly. In addition, odour nuisances that develop during drying are not uncommon.
- Odour elimination in occupied rooms
- Elimination of harmful bacteria and mould spores
- Disinfection of all surfaces
